What a better way to start off than with family and friends? Shie, my cousin, currently residing near L.A, shares his unique experience from a trip to Hawaii:

In June, 2007, my girlfriend and I took a week long trip to Hawaii. While on the Big Island, we took a tour of Mauna Kea, the tallest peak in Hawaii. Watching the sunset from the peak of the mountain at around 14,000 feet I took this shot as the sun just edged below the clouds:

A little later, I got a nice shot of the moon rising above the clouds. I’m especially proud of the moon shot because I didn’t have a tripod to steady my hand. I knelled down and used the bumper of the tour bus to help me steady the camera, and I think the result
is quite nice.
