Cindy Spelt took this one with her point and shoot Canon Ixus digital camera, and did a splendid job. Well composed, well timed (notice those little ripples on the water)- just as good as it is simple.

In 1397 construction started on the GoldenPavilion as part of a new residence for the retired shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Kinkakuji was converted into a Zen templeafter Yoshimitsu’s death in 1408. It has been burnt in 1950 and rebuilt in 1955, and has a 24 karat golden leaf cover.

“When Skydiving, pictures are taken at a high speed situation, with both the photographer and object are moving very fast, Both relative to each other (at least for the first few seconds) and to the environment (especially the ground…).”

The environment is also not very considerate:“Lighting is a problem because there is no time to play with camera settings, so before exiting the plane the photographer has to guess the best setting to work with all through the jump. The conditions constantly change as there are different cloud layers and other
variables that can affect the photo.”

“I think the results, although not the best, are good and speak for
themselves, considering the limitations the photographer has to deal with.”

Not quite the most exciting object to photograph- a dinner table. The challenge to produce something interesting out of it kept me busy for a good half hour or so.

With a happy new year (Shana Tova) blessing, here are the results, taken with my Olympus C-8080, no flash used.

For four weeks, she and more students will be keeping themselves busy at a Chinese toy factory, planning and designing an actual toy that may very well hit the shelves of your local stores within months. The factory is located next to a city called Anji.

I’ve received quite a selection of images, but this one, of a factory worker processing Bamboo branches before sending them into the manufacturing process, has caught my eye:

Image was taken by Michal Zohar using a simple Fuji FinePix F30. This goes to show how a regular day-to-day scene can be captured quite artistically, using good natural lighting, timing and a touch of original composition.

For those who haven’t tried yet, a great past time for when you’re in the great outdoors is picking up small stones from the ground, and trying to hit a bigger rock \ pole \ tree with them.

As I sat down setting my aim on an old and rusty metal pole sticking out from the ground, I noticed something a bit odd. A strange looking insect was resting on that pole, launching himself towards each and every stone flying by with amazing agility and accuracy.

For the first time in my life, I found my self playing fetch with a fly. And so, the decision to record this peculiar animal on my camera was soon to arrive, and I actually found the result to be very cool, although quite simple at the same time.

A quick check up with some nice members of a nature related on-line forum and I managed to ID the hunter insect as an Asilidae, also known as the robber fly.

So there you have it.
