Mediterranean Hosts Mini Grand-Canyon

Optical illusions are always fun to play with. Photography can make regular scenarios a great canvas for creating interesting images out of almost nothing, it’s all a matter of perspective.

Following a relaxing weekend up north, I got to visit one of the nicer beaches northern Israel has to offer, Bezet beach. Compared to the majority of sandy beaches to be found along the coast, Bezet is one of a few offering a completely different scenery: rocks and shallow pools in a variety of textures and reflections create a true photography playground.

The image above, taken with my pocket camera – Canon Ixus 850, makes a 10cm deep crack between the rocks seem, with a touch of imagination, as if taken from a flight through the grand canyon. In retrospective, I should have spent some more time on this location to create a better result, but this one is my favorite out of the current selection.

Three more images simply created by aiming the camera and setting a good exposure on some of the surfaces around the shallow pools, set another great example on how nature can become art in an instance.
